SONG OF LOVE AND HEALTH, which opened last May in the Director’s Fortnight in Cannes, brings João Nicolau back to Vila do Conde after having won the festival’s top prize in 2006, with his first short, RAPACE.
SONG OF LOVE AND HEALTH introduces us to João, the only employee that we can see in Morais Key Cutting shop. He is also the son of the owner and he doesn’t hesitate about leaving the shop and following his heart’s whispers to spend coin after coin in the slot of a Love Machine. Marta of the Hills is a Fine Art Student who brings an unusual request. The key that João duplicates for her opens more than a single door.
TONY is Bruno Lourenço’s directorial debut and tells us the story of a young man, Jorge, who dreams of one thing only: to incarnate the singer Tony de Matos. This obsession leads him to sign up for a unique karaoke contest, where he will finally be able to give life to his longtime hero.
